Four major financial groups\' Q1 results split as AI, digital finance spread
South Korea\'s financial sector has entered the first-quarter earnings season, with non-interest income and non-bank units driving diverging results among major financial holding companies. Agent banking is coming; Webcash says bank competition to intensify next year
B2B fintech firm Webcash is moving to secure solutions for the emerging era of AI agent banking, which it sees as a core axis of next-generation financial competition. At a conference in Seoul, it unveiled the architecture and use cases of OPERIA, an engine that connects general-purpose AI with banks’ relational databases. Webcash said internal tests showed 99 percent accuracy in its cash management solution and introduced a V2 cash management agent expanding coverage to about 800 customers.

AI agents will reshape B2B fintech, Webcash vice chairman says
Webcash Group Vice Chairman Wan-soo Yoon said AI is a different technology paradigm from the internet and mobile, and that AI agents will carry out financial tasks based on customer instructions. He said the shift would begin taking concrete shape in South Korea in the second half of this year and that banking channels would evolve into AI agents over the next 2 to 3 years. Webcash is pursuing an AI-agent-first strategy and has begun providing an AI cash assistant service.
