Algorand Foundation unveils post-quantum migration roadmap, targets end-2027

Algorand plans to introduce quantum-resistant cryptography across its blockchain by the end of 2027. The Algorand Foundation unveiled a migration roadmap covering user accounts, wallets, institutional custody systems and core network infrastructure. It plans Falcon-based post-quantum accounts and hybrid accounts combining existing cryptography with quantum-resistant signatures, alongside changes to multisignature wallets and validator-related randomness. Chief Technology Officer Bruno Martins said the first milestone begins in 2026, with broad deployment targeted by end-2027.
