BMW to start mass production of all-electric iX5 in U.S. in early 2027
BMW will begin producing the all-electric iX5 SUV early next year at its Spartanburg, South Carolina plant, its first electric-vehicle production outside Germany. The company plans to include the iX5 in the fifth-generation X5 lineup and start mass production in the first quarter of 2027. The new X5 will be offered with up to five powertrain types, with local investment, battery localisation, digitalised manufacturing and humanoid robots supporting production.
