AMD to ship first rack-scale AI system Helios by year-end; Microsoft joins as new customer
AMD will begin shipping its first rack-scale artificial intelligence system, Helios, to customers from late this year, CNBC reported on July 20. Microsoft is joining as a new customer and plans to use Helios in its data centres for frontier model inference, customer AI workloads and Azure AI services. AMD said Helios integrates GPUs, CPUs, networking and software, and will use MI400-series GPUs and EPYC CPUs.

Rableup presents large-scale AI infrastructure operations at ITU AI event
Rableup, an AI infrastructure platform company, said on Monday it presented a case study on operating large-scale AI infrastructure at the UN International Telecommunication Union\'s AI for Good Global Summit 2026. The seventh edition of the summit was held from July 7 to 10 at Palexpo in Geneva, Switzerland, drawing more than 12,000 participants from 170 countries. CTO Jun-gi Kim presented a 15-minute session on cross-stack optimisation.

Meta to begin mass production of latest MTIA AI chip in September
Meta plans to start mass production of the latest version of its in-house AI chip from September as it seeks to lower GPU costs amid an unprecedented parts shortage. The company is designing the chip with Broadcom and will have it made by TSMC, while sourcing memory from Samsung Electronics, storage from SanDisk and fibre-optic equipment from Sumitomo Electric. Meta expects 2026 capital spending of $125 billion to $145 billion, with much allocated to AI.
