Qualcomm fleshes out \'AI smartphone\' vision, up to 1 million tokens a day
Qualcomm is detailing an “AI smartphone” concept in which AI agents, rather than apps, carry out tasks based on user intent. Cristiano Amon (크리스티아노 아몬), Qualcomm’s CEO, said at Snapdragon Summit 2026 in Maui that the shift is from apps and assistants to agents. Qualcomm said next-generation agentic AI devices can process up to 1 million tokens a day on-device. It also outlined expansion of agents to PCs, smart glasses, wearables and cars, and previewed a Snapdragon coprocessor combining memory and AI compute.

SoftBank to exclusively sell Natural AI Phone in Japan
SoftBank has introduced an AI-focused smartphone in Japan, beginning a test of AI-centric devices as it seeks to expand AI experiences in both hardware and services. The company will exclusively sell Brain Technologies\' Android-based Natural AI Phone in Japan for one year from April 24, priced at 93,600 yen, with preorders already open. The phone integrates a Natural AI agent at the operating-system level and includes an AI button. SoftBank also unveiled a generative AI trial web service, DareDemo AI.

Samsung Electronics posts Q4 operating profit of 20.1 trillion won, up 209 percent
Samsung Electronics said on Jan. 29 it posted 2025 fourth-quarter revenue of 93.84 trillion won and operating profit of 20.1 trillion won, up 23.82 percent and 209.17 percent year on year, its best quarterly performance on record. The Device Solutions chip unit led growth on stronger HBM sales and rising memory prices, while Device eXperience revenue fell 8 percent from the previous quarter. For 2025, revenue was 333.61 trillion won and operating profit 43.6 trillion won.
