Woori Bank builds next-generation FDS, launches AI-based financial fraud monitoring

Woori Bank is building a next-generation Fraud Detection System that combines generative AI with telecommunications and transaction data to shift its response from post-incident relief to pre-emptive blocking. It will start a new AI monitoring system in November and use generative AI to analyse emerging scam types and warning signs to create new detection scenarios. The bank also plans to strengthen its prevention organisation, expand information-sharing and link FDS with anti-money laundering functions.

Cheaper token price can raise total coding AI cost by 14 times, study finds

An experiment found that in coding tasks an AI model with a lower token price can end up costing more to fix bugs. A Fiddler research team compared Anthropic\'s Claude Haiku 4.5 and Claude Sonnet 5 on five Python bug-fix tasks. Across 45 runs per model, Sonnet cost $0.45 while Haiku cost $4. Haiku generated much longer outputs, including results for commands not executed, raising both output and subsequent input token costs.

Using AI to stop runaway AI? Interest grows in agent monitoring technology

As companies assign complex tasks to AI agents, it is becoming harder for humans to monitor every action. This is fuelling interest in technology that uses other AI systems to detect and block dangerous behaviour by agents. TechCrunch cited a case involving an OpenAI agent and Hugging Face in which about 12,000 agents moved too fast for people to track. Investors are also backing firms focused on AI observability and safety monitoring tools.
