Google AI Overviews wrong 1 in 10 times, raising risk of tens of millions of errors a day
Google’s AI Overviews, shown at the top of Search results, has been assessed at about 90 percent accuracy, but analysts warn the remaining error rate could translate into millions of incorrect answers an hour and tens of millions a day when applied to overall search traffic. The New York Times tested the feature using Oumi’s SimpleQA benchmark and found accuracy rose from about 85 percent under Gemini 2.5 to about 91 percent after Gemini 3.

Google to boost link visibility in AI search results
Google is improving its AI search interface to display original source links more clearly, The Verge reported on Feb. 18. The company will highlight source links in AI Mode and AI Overviews and expand the change to desktop and mobile. A new update will show a popup with a related article description and image when users hover over a link. Google aims to ease criticism that AI search reduces web traffic and help users reach original content.
