A survey found 46.5 percent of sources cited in Naver AI Briefing came from Naver Blog.
Jeongmaek Marketing Lab, which operates the AI search optimisation (GEO) solution BrAInd, said this on Oct. 15 through its report, "Generative AI Source Citation Report, second half of 2026." It analysed which sources four generative AI services cited in their answers: Naver AI Briefing, Google AI Overviews, Gemini and ChatGPT.
The survey covered 635 search terms without brand names among 26 branded search keywords monitored by BrAInd. It compared 21,225 AI answers collected over 30 days from Aug. 26 to Sept. 24, 2026, and 85,392 sources cited as links in those answers, against the first screen of search results at the same time.
The types of cited sources differed by platform. Naver Blog accounted for 46.5 percent of Naver AI Briefing citations and 7.7 percent of Google AI Overviews citations, but it was not cited even once by Gemini, which had 9,597 citations, or by ChatGPT, which had 32,832 citations.
Google AI Overviews had a high share of YouTube and social media sources, mostly YouTube, at 29.4 percent. ChatGPT cited public institutions and organisation websites at 18.0 percent, while Gemini cited non-Naver blogs such as Tistory and Brunch at 13.1 percent. The share of news sites was 1.4 to 3.5 percent across all four platforms.
Answers citing channels operated by companies themselves accounted for about 5 to 19 percent of the total.
The findings observe what appears together, not whether doing one thing increases another. For example, brand mention rates were high in answers that cited a company’s own channels, but it cannot be interpreted as meaning that increasing posts on a company’s own channels raises mention rates.
The findings also come from an analysis of 26 branded search keywords monitored by BrAInd, and results could differ for other industries or periods. The report is published twice a year under the same criteria, and the next edition is scheduled for the first half of 2027.
Kim Cheol-hwan (김철환), head of Jeongmaek Marketing Lab, said, "Generative AI differs by platform in the sources it cites, to the extent that Naver Blog, which Naver AI Briefing cited the most, was not cited even once by Gemini and ChatGPT." He said, "Rather than judging based on a single check, it is necessary to regularly measure the same keywords and establish response plans by platform."
