Qualcomm highlights hardware-agnostic push behind AI software acquisition

Qualcomm is building an integrated software environment to develop and optimise AI across different hardware, using its acquisition of Modular, CEO Cristiano Amon said at Snapdragon Summit 2026 in Maui. Qualcomm said developers face growing burdens in tailoring AI workloads to each accelerator and architecture. It plans an open, hardware-agnostic software layer supporting CPUs, GPUs, NPUs and custom silicon, and will open-source Modular’s Mojo and MAX.

Homegrown AI foundation model, GPU power and chatbot safety set to dominate 2026 parliamentary audit

South Korea\'s 2026 parliamentary audit is expected to focus on market results for a government-backed homegrown AI foundation model, plans to operate 260,000 high-performance GPUs and safety measures for AI chatbots, especially for children and teenagers. A National Assembly research report flagged issues including GPU power supply, overseas outflows of AI talent, AI literacy and youth protection. It said support has focused on technical development more than market entry.

Ha Jung-woo vows to make South Korea \'irreplaceable\' in global AI supply chain

Ha Jung-woo (하정우), standing vice chair of the National AI Strategy Committee, said he will work to make South Korea an \'irreplaceable\' country in the global AI core supply chain beyond becoming an AI G3. He said his appointment reflects recognition of his private-sector experience and work shaping national AI strategy. Ha said global AI rivalry is expanding into technology and security competition and pledged faster policy execution, support for government projects and broader distribution of AI growth benefits.
