SK Telecom said on Thursday it was honoured to advance to the second stage of an independent AI foundation model project. It said it will continue efforts to develop South Korea’s AI ecosystem and contribute to revitalising it, playing its part in moving toward AI G3.
SKT said it will add multimodal capabilities in the second-stage evaluation and conduct additional training for the model. It said its long-term goal is to reach a trillion-parameter scale.
The Ministry of Science and ICT, the National IT Industry Promotion Agency and the Telecommunications Technology Association of Korea on Thursday disclosed the results of the first-stage evaluation of the independent AI foundation model project.
Among five elite teams including Naver Cloud, Upstage, SK Telecom, NC AI and LG AI Research, elite teams from LG AI Research, SK Telecom and Upstage advanced to the second round.
SKT stressed it has capabilities to expand AI across both B2C and B2B. It said it will contribute to revitalising the AI ecosystem with a highly open model.
