LG Energy Solution starts full operations at Lansing plant making ESS and EV batteries

LG Energy Solution is stepping up local production in the North American battery market by launching full operations at its Lansing plant in Michigan. The company held an opening ceremony on Aug. 19 attended by Governor Gretchen Whitmer, U.S. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum and CEO Kim Dong-myung (김동명). The plant will produce LFP batteries for energy storage systems and NCM batteries for electric vehicles, with annual capacity of more than 35 GWh.

Bank of America to commit $250 billion to U.S. AI infrastructure, focusing on data centers and power

Bank of America will commit $250 billion over the next 18 months to building infrastructure in the United States, with a focus on AI infrastructure including data centers, semiconductors and power generation. The initiative runs from Jan. 1, 2026 to July 4, 2027 and is not a single new fund. The bank will allocate money across digital infrastructure, energy and power, and core infrastructure, and expects tens of thousands of jobs.

Major Wall Street financial institutions are pursuing ways to transfer $15 billion in loans tied to a Google-backed Texas AI data center project to the bond market. A lending group led by Morgan Stanley is considering selling the debt as soon as it is funded. The Hubbard, Texas campus is designed as a lease to Anthropic. Banks are weighing AI growth opportunities against holding riskier loans, with bond sales seen as a way to recycle capital and limit exposure.
