MSIT to launch National AI Service Innovation Task Force, seeks private-sector experts
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT will set up a dedicated organisation to quickly develop AI-based public services that citizens can feel. The ministry said on Aug. 26 it will launch the National AI Service Innovation Task Force and openly recruit private-sector experts to lead service development. The 61-member task force will hire 26 private experts, including its head, on fixed-term civil service contracts. Applications open Sept. 2.

MegazoneCloud selected to run 2026 AI Champion competition
MegazoneCloud has been selected again as the operator of the 2026 AI Champion competition, the company said on May 28. Co-hosted by the National IT Industry Promotion Agency and the Telecommunications Technology Association, the event is a major track of the government-led 2026 nationwide AI contest. It awards teams that develop AI services and systems using generative AI and includes both the AI Champion and AI Rookie competitions.

National AI competition opens with 1,124 teams in AI Champion and AI Rookie events
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT said the main events of the National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Competition, AI Champion and AI Rookie, have formally opened after receiving applications from 1,124 teams and 3,611 participants. AI Champion drew 403 teams and will award prizes after rounds running from August to December. AI Rookie drew 721 university teams, with 100 finalists to be selected on May 29.
