Korea Fair Trade Commission starts review of Naver and Dunamu merger filing

South Korea’s Fair Trade Commission has begun reviewing a merger filing by Naver Financial and Dunamu. The agency said the combination of major digital platform firms could have wide effects on the digital ecosystem. It will assess competitive constraints and consumer impact. Naver would make Dunamu a wholly owned unit and build an integrated digital finance system. The companies approved a share swap in which Naver Financial will acquire all Dunamu shares.
