AI evaluation startup LMArena raises $150 million in Series A at $1.7 billion valuation

AI evaluation startup LMArena raised $150 million in a Series A funding round, SiliconANGLE reported. Investors included Felicis, UC Investments, Andreessen Horowitz and Kleiner Perkins. The company was valued at $1.7 billion, a threefold increase in seven months. LMArena runs a cloud platform that evaluates AI models using real-time, crowdsourced prompts, allowing users to compare outputs, provide feedback and rank model performance.

OpenAI vs SpaceX set up IPO big match as U.S. retail investors weigh choices

U.S. retail investors are drawn to head-to-head narratives, and Wall Street is focused on Sam Altman’s OpenAI versus Elon Musk’s SpaceX, Cointelegraph reported. OpenAI is viewed as having a clearer revenue model through ChatGPT subscriptions, API sales and enterprise products, backed by Microsoft investment. SpaceX is seen as still consuming heavy capital for Starship and Starlink. Wall Street is also watching possible mega IPOs including Anthropic.

Ko Young-cheol elected chairman of Korea Credit Union Federation, pledges stronger soundness and internal controls

Ko Young-cheol, chairman of the Gwangju Culture Credit Union, was elected the 34th chairman of the Korea Credit Union Federation on Jan. 7. He secured 301 votes, or 38.4 percent, out of 784 cast by credit union chairmen nationwide. Ko, a Chosun University accounting graduate, has served as a federation director since 2022. He pledged to restore soundness, strengthen internal controls and develop future growth drivers, and will take office in March.
