PIPC seeks applicants for 2026 MyData service support programme

South Korea's Personal Information Protection Commission and the Korea Internet & Security Agency will push ahead with a 2026 MyData service support programme to help activate the personal data transfer request system. The commission will hold a briefing in Seoul on the programme and the expansion of the right to request personal data transfers. This year it plans to provide 1.7 billion won for 6 services across 4 categories, including services implementing the expanded right.

NIS releases intelligent power grid cybersecurity guidelines

South Korea's National Intelligence Service and the National Security Research Institute on Tuesday released an intelligent power grid cybersecurity guideline prepared in cooperation with related agencies including the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment, Korea Electric Power Corp and the Korea Power Exchange. The 171-page guideline presents a linkage model among components of an intelligent power grid and includes security threats and countermeasures for 11 detailed linkage types.

Coupang rejects CCEJ 'revolving-door cartel' claim, calls announcement discriminatory

Coupang rejected allegations by the Citizens' Coalition for Economic Justice that it formed a revolving-door cartel by hiring many former officials and said the proportion of such hires was low relative to its overall hiring. The group said it filed for a public-interest audit and criticised employment-screening systems for retirees, citing high approval rates in reviews of former lawmakers’ staff and government officials. Coupang questioned the probe’s fairness and reliability.
