WebAI valuation tops $2.5 billion after funding round

Privacy-focused AI startup WebAI lifted its valuation to $2.5 billion through an extended Series A funding round, SiliconANGLE reported. Investors included Marc Benioff’s Time Ventures and Atreides Management, with existing backer Forerunner Ventures also participating. WebAI offers a platform to build “sovereign AI” models on local infrastructure, enabling companies to run AI on their own devices without sending data to cloud servers.

CrowdStrike to buy browser security firm Cerapic for $400 million

CrowdStrike plans to acquire browser security startup Cerapic Security for about $400 million as part of efforts to boost its ability to defend against web-based cyberattacks, SiliconANGLE reported. Cerapic has technology that blocks malicious requests and defends against RAM-based attacks through memory randomization. It also analyzes webpage data to detect ransomware and phishing links and scans files uploaded to cloud services to prevent sensitive data leaks.

Com2uS CEO Nam Jae-kwan buys 10,100 shares in open market to strengthen accountable management

Com2uS CEO Nam Jae-kwan bought 10,100 shares of the company in the open market for about 300 million won, Com2uS disclosed on Jan. 14. Nam had previously purchased 2,400 shares in March last year. His total holdings rose to 12,500 shares and his stake increased to 0.1 percent. Six executives also acquired 3,110 shares. The purchase follows Com2uS' plan to cancel treasury shares equal to 5.1 percent of total shares issued.
