[Digital Today reporter Ji-young Lee] Hana Bank has introduced a demand deposit account offering up to 2.0 percent annual interest and preferential fee benefits for farm and fishery operators who employ foreign workers.
Hana Bank said on Thursday it had launched the "Hana Preferential Account for Farmers and Fishers" for people working in agriculture and fisheries and for sole proprietors.
The base annual interest rate is 0.1 percent. Customers receive a preferential interest rate of 1.9 percentage points if they transfer wages once a month, at least 500,000 won per transaction, to a foreign worker's Hana Bank account.
If the preferential conditions are met, an annual interest rate of up to 2.0 percent applies to amounts of up to 2,000,000 won in the daily final balance. The account also offers fee waivers.
Eligible customers are individuals and sole proprietors engaged in agriculture or fisheries.
Lee Jeong-hyeon (이정현), managing director of Hana Bank's FX Business Division, said, "For farm and fishery operators, employing foreign workers is a matter directly tied to survival," adding, "Through this product, we will provide practical financial benefits to farm and fishery operators."
