SKT to pay 112 billion won early to partners ahead of Lunar New Year

SK Telecom said on Feb. 10 it will make early payments worth about 112 billion won with SK Broadband to reduce the burden on small and midsize partner companies during the Lunar New Year holiday. The payments cover more than 500 partners handling network construction, maintenance and service outsourcing, and about 250 distribution channels. SKT said it will pay up to three weeks earlier than scheduled and roll out payments before the holiday.

Farcaster co-founders join stablecoin blockchain Tempo

Farcaster co-founders Dan Romero and Varun Srinivasan have joined Tempo, a stablecoin-based payments startup, CoinDesk reported. Farcaster had drawn attention as a crypto-based alternative to Twitter but was recently acquired by Neynar, an infrastructure provider that supports APIs and tools for developers. Tempo is a stablecoin project formed last year with payments company Stripe and crypto venture firm Paradigm taking the lead, and aims to innovate international payments.

MegaETH launches ultrafast blockchain mainnet, can it rival rollup Layer 2s?

Ultrafast Ethereum Layer 2 project MegaETH has launched a mainnet that targets 100,000 transactions per second, Coindesk reported. The project says it offers higher speed than the existing Ethereum network and promotes a “real-time blockchain.” MegaETH raised $450 million in an October token sale and drew investment from Ethereum co-founders Vitalik Buterin and Joe Lubin. Critics point to centralisation concerns, while some experts doubt it can replace rollup-based Layer 2s.
