Axelera AI raises more than $250 million for edge AI chips

Dutch startup Axelera AI has raised more than $250 million in funding for AI chips used in edge devices, SiliconANGLE reported on Feb. 24. The round was led by Amsterdam-based venture capital firm Innovation Industries, with participation from BlackRock and the Samsung Catalyst Fund. Axelera AI’s flagship Metis chip performs 214 trillion operations per second while using 10 watts, and uses a digital in-memory computing architecture to reduce data movement.

JobKorea to hold Hreka Day networking event on March 19

AI and data-based HR tech platform JobKorea, operated by WorkSphere, will hold its Hreka Day networking program on March 19. The free event targets “beginner leaders” with under 5 years of leadership experience and is designed to share practical challenges in organization management, leadership and mental management. It will include group study sessions and a special lecture by HR Bulletin CEO Min-kyung Yang. About 50 participants will be recruited for an evening event in Seoul.

SK Telecom named excellent company for safety and health cooperation for third straight year

SK Telecom said on Feb. 25 it was named an excellent company for a third straight year in the Large and Small Enterprise Safety and Health Cooperation Programme overseen by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency. SK Telecom was the only telecom operator selected. The company received high marks for one-on-one consulting for partner firms, tailored training, and developing AI-based safety solutions, including drone inspections and vision AI safety management tools.
