Google founder urges stronger coding models as DeepMind forms dedicated coding AI team
Google DeepMind has formed a dedicated team to improve its AI coding models, The Information reported, citing three people familiar with internal matters. Researchers have assessed Anthropic's coding tools as ahead of Google's Gemini model in code-writing ability. The team is led by research engineer Sebastian Borgeaud and focuses on complex, time-consuming coding tasks. Google co-founder Sergey Brin and DeepMind CTO Koray Kavukcuoglu are also involved.

Belgian cybersecurity company Aikido Security has launched Endpoint, a lightweight security agent designed to protect the use of AI on developer workstations and respond to open-source software supply chain attacks, SiliconANGLE reported on April 20. The company said developer workstations have become security blind spots at many organisations as AI-based development and deployment spread and create new attack surfaces beyond existing security processes.
