Government to restrict HWP file attachments on public document channels from May

The government will gradually restrict attaching HWP files on public-sector document distribution channels. The National AI Strategy Committee said on Thursday it decided the measure with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to speed a shift to open formats in the AI era. It cited HWP's closed structure as a barrier to AI analysis and learning, and outlined steps for the Onnara and Onmail systems.

LG Uplus launches AI financial secretary with Welcome Savings Bank

LG Uplus has jointly developed and officially launched an AI financial secretary with Welcome Savings Bank, applying generative AI technology for the first time in Korea’s savings bank sector. The service is integrated into the bank’s mobile app, Welcom Digital Bank. It combines the EXAONE large language model from LG AI Research with Welcome Savings Bank data and LG Uplus’ AI agent development and operations expertise.

Intel shares surge 15 percent after hours on Q1 beat, strong Q2 outlook; data center and foundry sales rise

Intel's shares surged 15 percent in after-hours trading after the company posted first-quarter results that beat market expectations and issued a stronger-than-expected second-quarter outlook. Revenue rose 7.2 percent to $13.58 billion, topping forecasts. Data center revenue climbed 22 percent to $5.1 billion and foundry revenue rose 16 percent to $5.4 billion. Intel posted a net loss of $4.28 billion, wider than a year earlier.
