KNJ boosts second-half supply with semiconductor parts expansion

KNJ said first-half revenue rose 80.2 percent from a year earlier to 69.07 billion won, while operating profit increased 27.7 percent to 13.96 billion won, helped by growth in its semiconductor parts and FPCB businesses. Net profit fell to 6.7 billion won due to higher manufacturing costs, valuation losses on convertible bonds and corporate tax expenses. The company is bringing forward expansion plans to add capacity and widen supply in the second half.

E-Mart posts 43 billion won operating loss in Q2, swings to deficit

E-Mart said on Aug. 13 it posted a consolidated operating loss of 43 billion won in the second quarter, swinging to a deficit as weakness at subsidiaries such as SCK Company weighed on profitability. Consolidated net sales fell 1.8 percent to 6.915 trillion won. On a standalone basis, E-Mart reported operating profit of 25.6 billion won. It cited growth at renewed stores and double-digit gains at Traders.
