Charles Hoskinson pushed back directly against criticism of Cardano and again signalled confidence in long-term growth.
On Aug. 24 local time, blockchain outlet The Crypto Basic reported that Hoskinson said in a recent interview, targeting some investors who doubt Cardano's competitiveness and resilience, "Do not cross me, we will win this fight."
The remarks came as criticism grew over ADA's weak market performance and Cardano's ecosystem. Cardano has faced pressure over governance controversy, difficulty expanding its ecosystem and challenges at some projects. As ADA has fallen sharply from past highs, questions have also been raised about whether it can maintain its standing as a major cryptocurrency project.
Hoskinson did not accept such assessments. He has asked the community to focus on Cardano's long-term potential rather than its short-term price, and has previously made public a goal of making Cardano the world's largest cryptocurrency by market capitalisation. He kept the same stance in the interview and made clear his view that Cardano will ultimately survive the competition.
The market responded immediately. ADA rose from $0.21 to $0.2577 after Hoskinson's comments and was up about 27 percent over the past week. It later gave back part of the gains and slid to around $0.2212, but the rebound after a prolonged slump again stirred expectations among Cardano supporters.
Hoskinson's confidence did not stop at the price rebound. Cardano developers and ecosystem participants are continuing to push upgrades to improve network performance and expand use cases. Ouroboros Leios focuses on sharply increasing transaction throughput, while Hydra is presented as a scaling project based on layer 2 to support faster and more efficient transactions.
In the current major blockchain competition, scalability, applications, processing speed and user adoption are the key variables. Cardano is in a position where it must raise network performance while also increasing real-world use to defend its position in the market.
Cardano is also seeking to expand its ecosystem into DeFi and real-world financial infrastructure. Examples include Bitcoin DeFi, AlphaGrowth Cardano PRIME and projects related to RealFi. This could draw more users and capital to the network and, if total value locked increases, could also help strengthen Cardano's fundamentals.
Ultimately, the key is whether the development roadmap leads to actual adoption. Hoskinson stressed Cardano's long-term growth despite criticism, but the market is watching whether upgrades and ecosystem expansion translate into user growth and improved results. More than ADA's short-term rebound, whether Cardano can turn development progress into real demand remains the point to watch.
