[DigitalToday reporter Yoonseo Lee] XRP posted a daily trading volume of $15.4 billion on Aug. 22 (local time), its highest daily volume so far in 2026.
According to blockchain media outlet The Crypto Basic on Aug. 24, XRP was counted as one of the assets showing the strongest rebound among the top 100 cryptocurrencies as the crypto market recently recovered.
The overall market also showed a recovery trend. Global cryptocurrency market capitalisation increased by $474 billion last week, and major tokens recouped some of their recent losses. XRP jumped 53 percent last week, marking its strongest weekly gain since November 2024. Trading also surged sharply along with the price rebound.
CoinMarketCap data showed XRP’s 24-hour trading volume on Aug. 22 was $15.4 billion. That was the first time this year it exceeded $12 billion, and it was the biggest daily trading volume since a sharp market drop on Oct. 10, 2025. Compared with the August average daily volume of $1.1 billion, it was up about 1,300 percent.
It also topped the previous year-to-date high. XRP previously logged a daily trading volume of $11.836 billion in an early February rebound, and the Aug. 22 figure was about 30 percent higher. On Feb. 5, XRP fell 19.71 percent to $1.21 amid heavy selling across the market, and volume that day hit $11.34 billion, then a year-to-date high. On Feb. 6, the price rebounded 21.07 percent to $1.46 and volume rose further to $11.836 billion.
The latest volume spike did not immediately lead to a strong closing gain. XRP rose as high as $1.69 intraday on Aug. 22, but selling emerged in that range and it briefly slid to around $1.40. The daily gain ultimately stood at 0.53 percent, and it closed at $1.46. Trading surged to the year’s highest level, but the price mainly showed a wide intraday range.
The next day showed a different pattern. XRP rose 3.96 percent on Aug. 23 to $1.51, but daily trading volume fell to $6.5 billion. Trading intensity eased, but the price rebounded more strongly.
This week, XRP has given back some of its gains. As of Aug. 24, it was down 2.39 percent, showing its first intraday decline since the rally began. The price fell below $1.50 and traded around $1.4805.
Even so, its monthly performance remains strong. XRP is up 39.97 percent so far in August, and its year-to-date decline has narrowed noticeably. It was down 42 percent from the start of the year as recently as early this month, but it has recovered to a decline of about 19 percent.
This move has drawn attention as XRP showed both a price rebound and an expansion in trading. It also confirmed, as in the Aug. 22 case, that a surge in volume did not immediately translate into a sustained rise. The market is watching whether XRP will resume building trading activity around $1.50 and maintain its upward trend.
