[DigitalToday reporter Yoonseo Lee] Samson Mow, a bitcoin advocate and the founder of crypto infrastructure company Jan3, is drawing attention with a forecast that Elon Musk will strongly re-enter bitcoin (BTC) in 2026.

Cointelegraph, a blockchain media outlet, reported on Jan. 11 that Mow made 5 bold predictions aimed at 2026. Among them, his forecast about Musk drew attention. Musk previously expressed support for bitcoin, but halted Tesla payments in 2021 citing environmental concerns and sold 75 percent of its holdings the following year.

Despite that history, Mow said he was certain Musk would return. He posted a short but forceful message on his X account, formerly Twitter, saying, "Elon Musk goes hard into BTC." He did not give specific grounds, but the market is paying attention to the possibility that Musk's return could be a key trigger for the 2026 bull run.

Along with Musk's re-entry, Mow signalled an extremely strong bitcoin bull market. He said bitcoin, currently around $90,000, would reach $1.33 million in 2026. That would require a surge of more than 1,300 percent from current prices. He also said in June, "It is a foregone conclusion that bitcoin will break $1 million in 2025 or 2026."

He also continued rosy forecasts for the broader bitcoin ecosystem. Mow predicted Strategy (MSTR) shares would soar to $5,000 from the current $157. He also said bitcoin would outperform returns from precious metals such as gold and silver, and predicted that at least 1 country would issue 'bitcoin bonds' to speed up adoption in the mainstream financial system.

Some in the industry urged caution. They said Mow's outlook is overly optimistic, like the missed prediction by BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes and others that bitcoin would surpass $250,000 in 2025. Bitwise Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan took a more conservative stance, saying there would be a strong uptrend over the next decade but it would be a steady rise with reduced volatility rather than a spectacular surge.
