Ripple minted an additional 10 million RLUSD stablecoins on the XRP Ledger, blockchain media outlet U.Today reported on Aug. 17.
The issuance was processed from the RLUSD issuer account, and the transaction was finalised on the XRP Ledger the same day. XRPScan data showed the transaction fee was 0.000405 XRP. The newly issued tokens were moved to an RLUSD receiving account. The transaction used a two-signature multisignature method, and the maximum delivery amount was recorded as 10 million RLUSD.
The additional issuance also continues an expansion in RLUSD circulation. RLUSD circulation totals 1.711 billion tokens, according to CoinGecko. Its 24-hour trading volume was about $58 million. RLUSD market capitalisation has continued to grow since its launch in December 2024.
Ripple has recently been expanding RLUSD's institutional payments and compliance infrastructure. In July, it worked with Notabene to connect RLUSD to Notabene Flow, a business-to-business stablecoin payments platform. The two companies are also reviewing ways to link Notabene's transaction approval and compliance infrastructure with Ripple Payments.
It also expanded in Japan. Ripple officially launched RLUSD in Japan in June after receiving approval from Japan's Financial Services Agency. SBI VC Trade began offering RLUSD to both institutional and retail customers through its VCTRADE platform. SBI said RLUSD is the first stablecoin handled under Japan's Type 4 electronic payment instrument framework.
Regional expansion also continues. Ripple announced partnerships in June with Birla, BitoEXEN and Bitlo to make RLUSD available to institutional customers in Turkey. RLUSD is expanding its issuance scale while also broadening regulatory approvals, payments infrastructure and regional distribution networks.
The market views the additional issuance as a move that aligns with rising institutional demand. Ripple has in sequence pushed ahead with a connection to a business-to-business payments platform, approval in Japan and expanded institutional supply in Turkey. A key point to watch will be whether RLUSD focuses beyond growing circulation on expanding infrastructure for institutional stablecoins.
