Cryptocurrency trader DonAlt, who accurately called XRP's price rise, has put forward $10,000 as a technical target for Ethereum. He said he plans to close his actual holding position when Ethereum reaches $3,000, blockchain media outlet U.Today reported on Aug. 17 local time.
DonAlt disclosed his current Ethereum trading strategy on X. He set an official target price of $4,000 and an unofficial macro target of $10,000. However, he said he will take profit at $3,000.
He said he bought Ethereum around $1,900 on Aug. 13 and took a long position. He also acknowledged that buying in a resistance zone in a sideways market was a choice that did not fit classic technical analysis criteria. He explained that it is better to hold a position even at a less favourable price than to have no position at all.
He also outlined plans to increase the size of the position if Ethereum's price returns to a green support zone of $1,700 per coin.
This strategy reflects his XRP trading experience. DonAlt drew attention by predicting that XRP could rise from $0.50 to $3.50 ahead of the 2024-2025 bull market. His maximum XRP target at the time was $6.90, but the price fell back before reaching that level.
DonAlt judged that Ethereum could, in theory, rise to a five-digit price. But in actual trading, he chose to lock in profits earlier than the long-term target. Based on a $1,900 purchase price, exiting at $3,000 would mean a return of about 57%.
