Digital asset infrastructure company BDACS and digital asset payment solutions company ZEKTO have signed a memorandum of understanding with LK Ventures, operator of "Life Four Cuts", to introduce a won stablecoin payment system, BDACS said on Monday.
The agreement centres on piloting BDACS-issued won stablecoin KRW1 by integrating it directly into offline retail store payment and settlement systems.
Consumers will experience a won stablecoin-based payment environment at photo booth payment counters, a familiar offline cultural space. KRW1 is a fully won-collateralised, regulation-compliant won stablecoin. It is used in payment and settlement infrastructure that links on-chain transactions with off-chain finance.
To that end, ZEKTO plans to apply a payment and settlement system using KRW1 to consumer retail environments.
"Life Four Cuts", which will be linked for payments, operates about 1,000 stores in 30 countries worldwide. BDACS Chief Executive Hong-yeol Ryu (류홍열) said, "Life Four Cuts is a site that will demonstrate a real-life payment use case for the won stablecoin KRW1." He added, "Based on stablecoin infrastructure, we will innovate the paradigm of the offline payment ecosystem and further lead the global on-chain scalability of the won."
