Google is discussing a deal worth about $1.5 billion involving AI coding startup Mechanize. Google is in talks to secure a non-exclusive licence for Mechanize’s technology and hire some of its model evaluation and development staff. Amazon Web Services (AWS) launched Kiro Crew, an autonomous workspace in which an AI coding agent keeps working while developers are away. Kiro Crew is designed to assign multi-step tasks to multiple agents and sub-agents and delay developer involvement until review is needed.

Chinese companies seeking to develop large-scale AI models comparable to those of U.S. firms are also moving faster. ByteDance is developing an AI model with up to 10 trillion parameters. Chinese AI startup DeepSeek invested 140.8 million yuan ($20.8 million) in robotics company Unitree and agreed to jointly develop an AI model for humanoid robots.

Addit & Arc Corporation, which runs the AI-based Instagram organic-view advertising service Addit, raised seed funding from Mashup Ventures, Kakao Ventures, Base Ventures and BZCF.

OpenAI acquired presentation startup NextSlide. NextSlide team members are now working on ChatGPT-related tasks. OpenAI halted some work related to its upcoming AI model Astra. It cited internal evaluations showing it could not rule out the possibility that it has cyberattack capabilities that would qualify for a "critical" rating. OpenAI decided to provide unlimited text chat to both free ChatGPT users and high-usage users.

Nvidia is considering equipping its next-generation Rubin Ultra GPU with less high-bandwidth memory (HBM) than planned, a report said. Nvidia will support commercial use of its frontier-class open reasoning model, Nvidia Alpamayo 2 Super, for developing robotaxis and autonomous vehicles.
