Samsung Electronics' new Galaxy Z8 foldable series set its highest-ever preorder record, and the activation period for preorder customers has been extended.
Samsung said on its website on Tuesday that preorders for the Fold8 Ultra 1TB and the Fold8 exceeded prepared supply, and it will extend the activation period for preorder customers through the end of this month.
The early activation period was originally scheduled to run through Aug. 7. With the extension, preorder customers will receive the same double-storage benefit if they complete activation by the end of this month.
Samsung offers a free upgrade to the 512GB model for purchases of the 256GB model during the preorder sales period. Customers who buy the 512GB model of the Fold8 Ultra or Fold8 can upgrade to the 1TB model by paying an additional 310,700 won.
Samsung previously announced that the new foldable series recorded 1.44 million units in domestic preorders, setting a new record for Galaxy smartphone preorders since the 2019 Galaxy Note10. The Fold8 accounted for 70 percent of total sales.
