KakaoGames said on Aug. 4 it will partner with webtoon production company The Greem Entertainment to develop new titles using popular webtoon intellectual property (IP). The two companies signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on game production using the IP and cooperation on global services.

Under the agreement, KakaoGames secured rights to convert The Greem Entertainment’s comics and webtoon lineup into game content. The Greem Entertainment is a production company that has released multiple works with global recognition, including "Lookism" and "Kim Manager". KakaoGames plans to produce new titles based on the secured IP and expand services targeting the global market.

The two companies aim to maximize one-source multi-use (OSMU) synergy by combining KakaoGames’ publishing and live service experience with The Greem Entertainment’s reader fandom.

KakaoGames CEO Lee Si-woo (이시우) said, "We expect that this agreement with The Greem Entertainment, which has strong IP and a thick fan base, will allow us to deliver new enjoyment to users." He said, "We will pursue meaningful collaboration so that a game can come out that can draw a lot of attention in the global market."

The Greem Entertainment CEO Ahn Hyung-soo (안형수) said, "I am glad to be working with KakaoGames, which has know-how in game services." He said, "We will strive to make this another successful example of OSMU through the combination of our IP, webtoons and games, and the synergy between the two companies."
