Netmarble Cultural Foundation said on Monday it has reorganised the Netmarble Game Museum’s layout and will permanently run an exhibition tracing the legacy of past Korean package games.

The Netmarble Game Museum has converted “Press Start, Korean PC Game Stage,” which it presented as its first special exhibition at launch, into a permanent display. The core focus is on the history of domestic PC games that sat between the console era of the 1980s and the online gaming era of the 2000s.

In the on-site exhibition area, a new set of chronological panels spanning the 1990s to the 2000s has been installed, and physical examples of game packages from the period are displayed in showcases. Visitors can examine the production environment of first-generation developers and the growth of Korean PC games through 4 themes: people, content, technology and localisation.

Along with the exhibit overhaul, hardware construction work was also carried out in the museum’s library area. The foundation removed the existing movable wall and fully separated the space into a reading area and an exhibition area. It plans to operate it as a complex cultural space that combines exhibitions and reading, beyond a simple reading room.

The Netmarble Game Museum is closed every Monday and operates daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Same-day entry closes at 5:30 p.m.
