[DigitalToday reporter Chi-kyu Hwang] Uniswap founder Hayden Adams (헤이든 애덤스) rebutted criticism that fees in the v4 protocol reduce liquidity providers' income.

In a recent Cointelegraph report, Adams said on social media platform X (Twitter) that the claims are based on incorrect assumptions.

The controversy emerged after Uniswap governance enabled protocol fees for some v4 pools across multiple blockchains.

Adams also denied claims that the protocol takes 25 percent of LP revenue. Using a 30 bp pool as an example, he said a 5 bp protocol fee amounts to about 14 percent of the total swap fee.

Adams stressed that protocol fees are added, not deducted from existing LP fees. He said it is incorrect to interpret the introduction of protocol fees as meaning LPs receive lower fees.

Uniswap is a decentralised exchange with total value locked of about $3.06 billion, according to DefiLlama.
