The possibility has been raised that game and metaverse projects in the Shiba Inu ecosystem may be moving toward a restart.

On July 9 (local time), blockchain media outlet U.Today reported that Mazrael, a key figure in the Shiba Inu community, said in a conversation on X, formerly Twitter, that major updates for Shiba Eternity and the Shiba Inu metaverse project are being worked on and are ahead of a relaunch.

The remarks came as a user asked whether Shiba Eternity was back online. Mazrael, who serves as a game adviser for Shiba Eternity, acknowledged that the two projects had been temporarily paused but said internal work was continuing. He said “a lot is in progress” and added that updates for the relaunch of Shiba Eternity and the metaverse had been prepared.

The key point is that it is a temporary pause, not a complete shutdown. Referring to the operating status of Shiba Inu’s layer-2 network, Mazrael said Shiba Eternity and the metaverse were paused for a while. That has added weight to the view that the two projects were not left unattended for a long period but could be made public again after a reorganisation.

Shiba Eternity was first launched in October 2022 as a free mobile collectible card game. The Shiba Inu side has since been developing and testing a play-to-earn (P2E) Web3 version based on the Shibarium network. Closed testing of the Web3 beta continued from the third quarter to the fourth quarter of 2024. A specific relaunch date was not provided this time either.

A change is also expected in how users access the metaverse project. Mazrael suggested that when Shib: The Metaverse returns, access is expected to be via the Shib.io website rather than a separate domain. The remarks came after the SHIB legacy domain was shut down.

Such signals of reorganisation are also linked to the 2026 operational direction the Shiba Inu developers laid out late last year. Shiba Inu developer Kaal Dhairya said in a year-end letter sent to the community at the end of 2025 that projects, systems and processes that do not generate revenue or fail to reach break-even would be paused or ended. It means the ecosystem would be restructured based on profitability and sustainability.

Kaal Dhairya drew a line, saying project downsizing should not be taken as an immediate withdrawal of the vision. He said, “The Shiba Inu vision is not dead; it has only faced a temporary setback.” He added that “2026 will be a year of recovery, focus and building something that can actually last for a long time.”

Market attention is therefore split in two. One is the actual relaunch schedule for Shiba Eternity and the Shiba Inu metaverse. The other is which services will remain and how the SHIB ecosystem will be reshaped as low-profit projects are cleared out. For now, it has been confirmed that development of both projects has not stopped completely and that updates for a relaunch are being prepared.

meh in an environment where lesser doggos would shutdown their L2.. we temporary paused SE along with the metaverse can refer to https://t.co/wOMPUIWvoQ or https://t.co/Hz393IPRt5 lots in progress. oh and actually both MV and SE have much updates ready for their relaunch. There…
