VeniceAI, a privacy-focused AI startup, has raised $65 million in a Series A round.

The Block reported that Dragonfly led the investment round, with North Island Ventures, Coinbase Ventures and F-Prime participating.

Venice, launched two years ago, positions itself as an alternative to OpenAI's ChatGPT. It does not store user prompts in its own system and encrypts them before sending them through an external proxy. It offers access to more than 200 AI models, including open-source models and closed models from OpenAI and Anthropic.

Venice said it surpassed 3 million users in April and returned to profitability without using that approach in an environment where other AI companies ran losses while looking into user information. Venice's annualised revenue is known to exceed $70 million.

The founder of Venice, Boorhis (부어히스), said it needs capital to build an open consumer platform for hundreds of millions of users and billions of AI agents.
