Upbit resumed part of its digital asset deposit and withdrawal services after they were halted due to a hacking incident. All previous deposit addresses for all assets have been deleted, so users must obtain new deposit addresses.

Upbit said on the 29th that it reopened deposits and withdrawals from 23:45 the previous day for networks where safety had been secured. The restart covers six networks and 23 digital assets, including Bitcoin, XRP, Aptos, Klaytn-based assets such as BORA and WEMIX, TRON-based assets such as TRX and BTT, and some Ethereum-based assets including ether and USDT.

Other Ethereum-based assets will resume in stages through separate notices as checks are completed.

Upbit said users must obtain new deposit addresses to improve security vulnerability protections. It said using previous addresses could cause problems such as deposits not being reflected.

It also said deposits made during the suspension period will be processed sequentially, though processing may take time. It urged users to delete old Upbit deposit addresses stored in personal wallets or other exchanges.

The company said users should note price differences during the suspension period and that some airdrop assets and caution-listed tokens will resume withdrawals only. Staking, NFT and related services will restart after transfer stability checks.

Upbit said the hacking damage totaled 44.5 billion won. Member assets accounted for about 38.6 billion won, including about 2.3 billion won frozen immediately after external transfers. Company losses were 5.9 billion won.

Dunamu CEO Oh Kyung-seok said customer assets were fully covered with Upbit’s holdings. He said the incident stemmed from inadequate security management and that the company will operate an emergency response system to prevent recurrence.
