[DigitalToday reporter Jinju Hong] Ripple President Monica Long (모니카 롱) will attend 'XRP Seoul 2026', which will be held in Seoul in October. With South Korea seen as a key market for global XRP trading, attention is focused as Ripple executives are set to visit the country and share strategies to expand the XRP and XRP Ledger (XRPL) ecosystem.
Blockchain media outlet U.Today reported on June 28 that 'XRP Seoul 2026' is an event hosted by XRP Ledger Korea (XRPL Korea) and will be held in Seoul on Oct. 3 during Korea Blockchain Week (KBW).
Organisers introduced the event as a global community gathering that connects XRP holders, developers and ecosystem projects worldwide. The official X account for XRP Seoul announced Long's attendance and said, "We are honoured to welcome her to Seoul."
Long currently oversees Ripple's business, product and engineering organisations. Organisers said she has played a key role in growing Ripple into a comprehensive platform spanning payments, digital asset custody and asset tokenisation.
She joined Ripple in 2013 and is assessed as having led business expansion that connects traditional finance and decentralised finance (DeFi). At the event, she is expected to share a vision for XRP's future, changes in the global payments market and the next growth strategy for the XRPL ecosystem.
The visit is drawing attention because of South Korea's high share of XRP trading. South Korea has long been seen as a market with active XRP trading. The explanation is that even when bitcoin and ethereum lead global markets, XRP trading volume has repeatedly surged when interest among domestic investors rises.
XRP is currently the second-most traded cryptocurrency by volume on Upbit, South Korea's largest cryptocurrency exchange. Ripple executives' visit to Seoul is interpreted as a move to expand touchpoints with a key market where actual trading demand is concentrated, beyond simply attending an event.
XRPL-based service development is also becoming active in South Korea. U.Today reported that as the domestic fintech industry expands the adoption of blockchain-based financial services, developers and startups are developing various real-world use cases using XRPL.
Alongside this, the 'Korea Fintech Innovation Program (KFIP) 2026' is also drawing attention. The programme was introduced as South Korea's largest XRPL-only accelerator programme to date. Of 270 applicant teams, 12 advanced to the finals, and XRPL Korea said it later selected 5 final winning teams.
The market views the Seoul event as a meaningful opportunity not only for domestic XRP investors but also for expanding the XRPL developer ecosystem. Ripple is pursuing a strategy to expand its payments network and digital asset infrastructure at the same time, and Long's presentation is also expected to set out the role of XRP and XRPL in the South Korean market and the future direction of ecosystem development.
