Aristo, a memory startup for artificial intelligence (AI) agents, said on Wednesday it has raised pre-seed funding from Kakao Ventures.

Aristo is developing a personal memory solution for AI agents called Membase. Membase integrates users’ conversations with AI and information from work tools such as email, Slack and calendars into a single memory system. It is designed to enable AI to understand project progress, work history and personal preferences and provide answers that fit the context.

Aristo said it is building an independent memory layer not tied to any specific service to solve the problem.

Aristo plans to use the investment to enhance memory accuracy and its real-time automatic update function.

Hwang Shin-hyuk (황신혁), Aristo's chief executive, said the key for AI to become a true personal assistant is not only model performance but also the ability to remember user context and use it accurately. He said the company would present a new standard for AI memory infrastructure.
