[DigitalToday reporter Jinju Hong] Amflow, an electric bicycle brand spun off from Chinese drone company DJI, has unveiled a new electric bike aimed at both daily transport and leisure riding. The key is a so-called "eSUV" concept that covers everything from school drop-offs and pick-ups to long-distance bikepacking and mountain trails with a single bike.
On June 23 local time, IT outlet The Verge reported that Amflow unveiled the TL Carbon electric bike, combining a full-suspension design with cargo capability.
At the core of the TL Carbon is Amflow's in-house mid-drive system, the Avinox M2 motor. Maximum torque is 125Nm and maximum output reaches 1,100W. The bike comes with a removable 800Wh battery as standard, and adding a separate 480Wh extender expands total capacity to 1,280Wh. An optional dedicated charging hub that can charge up to 4 batteries sequentially is also offered.
The frame is designed with urban travel and cargo needs in mind. Mudguards, integrated lighting and a rear cargo rack come as standard. The rear rack can carry up to 27 kg, and adding a front rack allows an additional 20 kg. The rear rack supports the MIK HD standard, making it easy to mount child seats, panniers and bicycle trailers.
Amflow said the TL Carbon was developed to cover daycare drop-offs and pick-ups, shopping, commuting, camping and long-distance bikepacking.
Riding performance also focuses on handling rough terrain. It adopts a full-suspension structure with both a front fork and rear suspension, and uses wide block-pattern tyres to provide stable ride comfort on unpaved roads, trails and urban pothole sections.
Maximum permitted gross weight, including cargo, reaches 200 kg. The bike weighs as little as 22.6 kg, which places it among the lighter full-suspension electric bikes.
Its electronic shifting also stands out. When the system detects a shift signal, it can change gears automatically even when the rider is not pedalling. Amflow said it automatically reduces motor torque during shifts on uphill sections or under heavy loads to soften impacts and reduce chain wear.
Connectivity features have also been strengthened. It links with Apple's Find My network to track location in the event of theft, and when a heart-rate sensor is connected it automatically adjusts assist levels to match a target heart rate. When paired with DJI's Osmo action camera, it can also control recording start and stop directly from the bike display.
The price is set at 3,499 euros in Europe and 3,199 pounds in Britain. A U.S. price has not yet been disclosed, and Amflow is targeting a global market launch in the second half of this year. The industry is assessing the TL Carbon as a product that breaks down the boundary between electric mountain bikes and utility cargo bikes.
The analysis is that the strategy is to combine a high-output motor, large-capacity battery, cargo capability and smart features on a single platform to target both urban transport and leisure activities. When the U.S. price, launch markets and actual supply schedule are disclosed, competitiveness in the e-bike market is expected to be tested in earnest.
