Samsung SDS said on Monday it was selected as a GPU resource supplier for the 2026 AI research computing support project backed by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Institute of Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation (IITP), and began services on July 20.

The programme is a national AI research support project that provides GPU resources for AI research to researchers at domestic academia and research institutes. It aims to supply computing resources so research organisations such as universities and government-funded research institutes that find it difficult to secure large-scale computing infrastructure on their own can conduct research on hyperscale AI models and large language models (LLMs).

The project is worth about 15.3 billion won. Services are provided from July to March 2027.

Samsung SDS will provide not only Nvidia's H100 (Hopper) GPUs but also a GPU cluster based on the latest B300 (Blackwell Ultra).

Samsung SDS stressed that by directly deploying the latest GPUs to the national AI research GPU computing project, it has laid the foundation for domestic researchers to conduct research in a world-class computing environment.

Lee Ho-jun (이호준), head of Samsung SDS' Cloud Service Business Division and a vice president, said, "Through this project, we will provide stable services so domestic researchers can achieve innovative results based on world-class AI infrastructure." He added, "We will continue to contribute to expanding the base of national AI research infrastructure and enhancing South Korea's AI competitiveness."
