[DigitalToday reporter Lee Ho-jung (이호정)] Kakao will take part in an expo hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and showcase various public-focused agent services based on its artificial intelligence brand, Kanana.
Kakao said on June 23 it will participate in the 2026 Public AI Industry Expo, held at KINTEX in Ilsan, Gyeonggi Province, from June 23 through June 24, and operate an interactive booth. The event was set up to introduce various AI technologies and services being introduced in national and public sectors.
Under the theme “A Day with Kanana,” Kakao set up its booth to let visitors experience agentic AI services firsthand. The experience areas are divided into five zones: Kanana in KakaoTalk, Kanana conversation and call summaries, KakaoTools, AI National Secretary and Kanana Safeguard.
In the Kanana in KakaoTalk zone, the company introduces briefing and information suggestion functions based on conversation context. In the KakaoTools area, it demonstrates lifestyle-focused functions that connect Kakao’s internal and external services. Visitors can also see Kanana Safeguard, a Korean-language specialised AI guardrail model that detects harmful content and risky requests.
A trial zone for the AI National Secretary, pilot-launched in cooperation with the ministry, is also drawing attention. The service allows users to easily handle public facility reservations and the issuance of electronic certificates within KakaoTalk, and its voice support function was recently updated. At the site, visitors can experience the full process, from reserving public services by touching the screen to issuing certificates, submitting them to institutions and storing them in an electronic wallet.
Kakao will also display its in-house Kanana lineup of AI models and operate an event space where visitors can print a personalised ID card based on the character Jjordy using Kanana Collage, an image generation model.
A Kakao official said the expo would directly show how Kakao’s agentic AI technology can make people’s daily lives more convenient in the public sector. The official said the company will work to further expand cooperation with public services, including the AI National Secretary.
