AI model lightweighting and optimisation technology company Nota said on Monday it signed a memorandum of understanding with LG CNS to commercialise AI-based real-time intelligent transport systems (ITS) technology.

The companies will combine LG CNS's capabilities in global smart city and ITS projects with Nota's AI lightweighting and optimisation technology to expand joint business opportunities in overseas transport infrastructure markets. They plan to widen cooperation to include joint marketing, field verification, development, business development and system deployment.

Nota provides traffic control functions such as traffic flow analysis, detection of unexpected situations and risk recognition for pedestrians and vehicles through its generative vision-language model (VLM)-based video monitoring solution, Nota Vision Agent (NVA). Nota said a strength is real-time video analysis in edge environments by reducing reliance on the cloud.

LG CNS has pursued ITS projects in the global smart city market centred on integrated operations centres (IOC). The companies plan to jointly respond to demand for the digital transformation of transport infrastructure by linking Nota's ITS technology with LG CNS's own AI smart city platform. They will identify specific project opportunities, targeting the Americas as the main market.

Chae Myung-soo (채명수), chief executive of Nota, said, "Transportation is a key area where physical AI can create real value in urban infrastructure," adding, "Based on the two companies' technology and business capabilities, we will build AI-based intelligent transport solutions that can be used in the field."
