Naver has obtained an international standard certification for a crisis-response system designed to minimise service disruptions and enable rapid recovery in the event of disasters.

Naver said on Sunday it held an ISO 22301 (business continuity management system) certification ceremony on June 19 at its 1784 headquarters in Seongnam, Gyeonggi province. Major affiliates including Naver Webtoon and Naver Cloud participated in the certification process and were recognised for establishing a companywide disaster-response management system from an enterprise perspective.

ISO 22301 is an international standard management system awarded after evaluating a company's management framework for ensuring business continuity through rapid recovery when operations are disrupted by disasters.

To manage crises pre-emptively, Naver standardised response processes by disaster type, including storms and floods, earthquakes, terrorism and fires. It also refined detailed procedures based on companywide service recovery priorities, laying the groundwork to maintain service continuity even in unexpected emergencies.

Going forward, Naver plans to conduct regular disaster recovery drills based on its established business continuity plan, or BCP, to strengthen real-world response capabilities. It also plans to raise employees' awareness of crisis response through internal training and campaigns and to continuously reinforce infrastructure stability.

Yu Bong-seok (유봉석), Naver's chief risk officer, said Naver, as a platform company, advanced its response system to fulfil its responsibilities and ensure service continuity amid various types of disasters, including terrorism and fires as well as natural disasters such as earthquakes, storms and floods and heavy snowfall. He said it would raise service stability further by regularly checking companywide crisis-response governance through the BCP committee.
