A field-based instructor training system in which delivery riders teach their peers will be established. Woowahan Cheongnyeondeul, which oversees logistics services for Baedal Minjok, said on Sunday it completed a "Rider Instructor Training Program" with the Korea Platform Freelancer Labor Mutual Aid Association (Korea Labor Mutual Aid Association) to develop 10 riders with delivery experience into professional instructors.
The program was designed to proactively build a field-based training system ahead of the government’s mandatory new rider safety education taking effect on Dec. 3. Ten riders recommended by the Korea Labor Mutual Aid Association took part. Training was held at Baemin Rider School in four sessions from June 4 to 12.
The curriculum consisted of understanding the instructor role and safety theory training, trial theory lectures and feedback, practical teaching methods and riding skills training, and individual lecture demonstrations and certification assessments. The company said it focused on raising capabilities to a level at which participants can conduct actual classes.
Graduates will be rotated in as assistant instructors at Baemin Rider School starting in July. They will handle overall training operations, including attendance management, practice support and evaluation support, and can work as lead instructors if they meet certain standards.
Woowahan Cheongnyeondeul will also work with the Korea Labor Mutual Aid Association to run an outsourced "visiting safety education" program operated as a Gyeonggi-do platform worker support project, with 25 people per session. It will consist of practice courses centered on accident prevention and is structured to expand Baemin Rider School’s training infrastructure through cooperation with external institutions.
A Woowahan Cheongnyeondeul official said, "This is an attempt to create a collaborative model for rider safety education in which various parties participate together," and added, "We plan to develop it into a standardised training system that can be linked with the government and public institutions."
