ADTechnology achieved a 3.695 GHz clock speed with its HPC CPU, ADP620, based on Samsung Electronics' foundry 2-nanometre process. The company on May 29 unveiled the design result and its mass-production roadmap at the Samsung Foundry SAFE Forum 2026 held at Samsung's semiconductor campus in San Jose, California.

The key to the performance achievement is ADTechnology's proprietary design-optimisation platform, CAPELLA. CAPELLA maps the company's POLK IP library to Samsung's process characteristics to raise chip-level power, performance and area efficiency. The company said combining CAPELLA with Samsung's 2-nanometre process enabled the 3.695 GHz clock speed and secured competitiveness in error reduction, cost cuts and performance per watt.

At the forum, ADTechnology presented a demonstration running a boot sequence from RSE firmware initialisation to entry into host UEFI. RSE, or Remote System Engine, is a firmware module responsible for remote management and control of server systems, and UEFI, or Unified Extensible Firmware Interface, is a standard firmware interface that initialises hardware before an operating system runs. Securing an integrated execution environment early, before the chip fabrication stage, allows design defects to be verified in advance, enabling shorter development schedules and minimised risk.

The company is also applying a Shift-Left strategy to shorten the development cycle. It builds virtual models, hardware emulation and FPGA platforms in stages before silicon fabrication, running hardware design and software development in parallel.

Chief Executive Park Jun-gyu (박준규) said, "This achievement of 3.695 GHz performance is the result of our design-optimisation capabilities being brought to bear on the technological prowess of Samsung's 2-nanometre process." He added, "Beyond simple design services, we will continue to present practical technical solutions as a 'global AI infrastructure architecture partner' that drives customers' growth."
