SK AX said on Monday its "AI competency certification platform" has won government accreditation, the first such recognition in South Korea for a generative AI competency certification system.
SK AX said it secured employer qualification under the Ministry of Employment and Labor and Human Resources Development Service of Korea programme for government recognition of corporate qualifications through its AI competency certification platform. The company stressed that the generative AI competency certification platform and operating system, which it has run since last year for about 3,800 SK Group employees, were recognised by the government for improving work productivity and for objectivity.
SK AX said, "This certification system is significant in that it was assessed as a system that can systematically measure and verify whether practitioners working across various industries can properly use generative AI."
The corporate qualifications government recognition system is a programme in which the Human Resources Development Service of Korea grants credibility after comprehensively reviewing the completeness of the assessment framework, the objectivity of assessment results and operational performance for job qualification systems run in-house by companies. SK AX said it received high marks for an original structure that automates the entire process from applying to take the test through scoring and evaluation using AI, and verifies real job performance capabilities.
Min-hwan Kim, head of the HRX initiative at SK AX, said, "AI transformation is no longer an area for specific departments or experts, but requires the internalisation of capabilities and change management by all members." He said, "Securing this government recognition means the AI education and certification model that SK AX has validated in real industrial settings has secured credibility, and we will advance the certification system so that it can establish itself as a standard model for companies pursuing AI transformation."
