Cowintech said on May 11 it signed a supply contract worth the mid-30 billion won range for a mobile robot-based automation system with a major global battery company. The contract runs through June 2027 and represents the combined amount of contracts by process. It did not disclose the counterparty, citing confidentiality reasons.
Under the contract, Cowintech will deliver an integrated solution covering processes across the customer’s battery production line. It includes robotics and logistics automation systems and control software for full-line automation. The supply scope includes industrial articulated robots as well as logistics robots.
The industrial articulated robots feature precision picking using 3D vision recognition technology. Stable operation is possible through a teaching algorithm, and the robots are applied to manufacturing line automation, the company said.
A Cowintech official said, "Following the order announcement in March for a robot and automation system for ESS, we have continued to secure orders from a domestic semiconductor manufacturer and Hyundai Motor, and new mobile robot-based orders are continuing across advanced industries including batteries, semiconductors, automobiles and ESS."
The official added, "To expand our AMR-based robot platform business, we plan to broaden our supply scope into the industrial robot field as with this order, and expand our business in intelligent robots based on a robot platform system that combines AMR driving modules and industrial robot modules, accelerating our business transition."
