Global HR and payroll platform Deel said on May 7 it launched an AI agent platform for frontline staff, called Akai by Deel.

The company said Akai is an agentic workflow platform that automates internal corporate workflows with AI agents. It learns repetitive tasks that staff in finance, tax, compliance and HR used to handle manually each day, then supports automation under human supervision.

It also provides governance features designed to give users direct control. All AI agent execution histories are recorded and can be rerun, and processing work such as transfers and filings is designed to require human approval by default. All sensitive information is kept in an encrypted zero-knowledge repository, and the company said the platform has completed validation in more than 100 countries by complying with global regulations including the EU's data protection law and SOC 2.

Deel is currently running an early access program and supporting adoption for companies seeking to automate key workflows. Akai is expected to be applied mainly in areas with many repetitive tasks, including cross-border payments and payment service providers (PSPs), tax and regulatory compliance, and logistics and supply chains.

Alex Bouaziz (알렉스 부아지즈), Deel's co-founder and CEO, said, "Akai is a tool we built to solve problems Deel faced internally, and Deel's internal operations team was the first user." He added, "Going forward, the new standard for corporate operations will be a model in which AI performs repetitive operational tasks and people supervise it."
