KB Kookmin Bank said on Wednesday it will run a first-come-first-served account-opening event to mark the first anniversary of its "monimo KB daily interest account" launch.
The event targets first-time subscribers to the account and offers rewards of up to 30,000 won. It runs on the monimo app through June 30.
The reward will be paid in "monimo money" on the 15th of the month after sign-up. The first 5,000 customers will receive 30,000 won, followed by 20,000 won for the next 10,000, 10,000 won for an additional 10,000, and 5,000 won for up to the next 50,000.
The monimo KB daily interest account offers an annual interest rate of up to 4.0 percent on daily balances of up to 2 million won (base rate 0.1 percent a year; preferential rate up to 3.9 percentage points, as of May 6; before tax).
About two months after its launch in April last year, the sales limit of 225,000 accounts was exhausted. It later resumed sales in October last year after receiving additional approval for an innovative financial service from financial authorities.
A KB Kookmin Bank official said, "To mark the first anniversary of the product launch, we prepared the event to provide customers with interest-rate benefits and a differentiated experience." The official added, "We will continue to expand innovative financial services closely related to customers' daily lives."
