Dunamu, which operates digital asset exchange Upbit, donated 16 bitcoin, worth about 2.1 billion won, to the Community Chest of Korea's "Hope 2026 Sharing Campaign," it said on Tuesday. The donation is the first digital-asset donation since the campaign was launched in 1999 and the first corporate sponsorship of 2026.
Dunamu and the Community Chest signed a memorandum of understanding in June last year to promote digital-asset donations. They have continued cooperation by preparing donation management and operations manuals so non-profit organisations can safely manage digital assets and by providing training for practitioners.
Dunamu CEO Kyungseok Oh said he hopes the first corporate donation to the year's "Love Temperature Tower" will help spread the positive influence of digital assets.
Community Chest Chairman Byungjoon Kim said he is grateful for the first corporate donation of the new year and will lay an institutional foundation so digital-asset-based giving can take root in a stable way.
