Use of crypto cards issued by Visa surged 525 percent over 2025, Cointelegraph reported on Jan. 5, citing Dune Analytics data.

The report said total payment volume on Visa crypto cards jumped to $9.13 billion by the end of December from $1.46 billion as of January 2025. The cards were issued in cooperation with blockchain projects. They include crypto payments platform GnosisPay and Cypher, DeFi project EtherFi, Avici Money, Exa App and Moonwell.

EtherFi cards recorded the largest usage at $5.54 billion, followed by Cypher at $2.05 billion. Polygon researcher @obchakevich said the rapid spread of crypto cards shows the strategic importance of crypto and stablecoins in Visa's global payments ecosystem. The researcher said crypto is now becoming a tool for everyday financial transactions rather than an experimental technology.

Visa recently expanded stablecoin support to 4 blockchains. It also set up an advisory team to help banks, merchants and fintech companies launch and manage stablecoin products.
