Toss Income, a tax filing and refund support subsidiary of Viva Republica, has launched a “Preview of This Year’s Refund” service that allows users to check their expected refund in advance of the May comprehensive income tax filing season, it said on Wednesday.

The service estimates a user’s expected refund ahead of May’s comprehensive income tax filing. Anyone with earned income last year, including office workers and multi-job workers, can use it. The service is available through April 30 in the “Tax” menu in the Toss app. After a customer authenticates on HomeTax, Toss Income’s calculation engine automatically computes an expected refund based on actual income and past filing records.

Toss Income said it was the first in the industry to introduce a service that lets users check an expected refund for regular filing in advance. It also features improved accuracy by reflecting key information used for May’s regular filing. With a single query, users can check their expected 2025 refund amount as well as missed refunds over the past 5 years from 2020 to 2024. It allows users to review the possibility of refunds for up to 6 years at once.

Toss Income is also operating a “Peace-of-Mind Collection Compensation Program.” It compensates users if they receive a collection notice from the National Tax Service after filing on their own. In September last year, it raised the compensation limit to 1 million won from 500,000 won to strengthen consumer protection.

A Toss Income official said the goal is to use technology to address information asymmetry in the tax filing process and anxiety about additional collections. The official said the company will build a service environment that anyone can use with confidence through accurate guidance and proactive protection policies.
